I'm currently studying for an MA in Cultural History at the university of Teesside, and am in the process of writing my thesis.
The focus of my thesis is on the methods and purposes of popular Family History in the North East.
To this end I am looking for local people who have studied their family history. I intend to conduct a number of face-to-face interviews with family history enthusiasts and I also hope to issue questionnaires on the same subject.
I am hoping that I might be able to find people on Ancestry.co.uk who would be interested in taking part - either by sitting for an interview or by completing a questionnaire.
Both interview and questionnaire would be quite in-depth, featuring many different questions, and would take a while to complete.
Questions would cover the basics of the subject's family history, the stories that have been passed down in their family, the results of their research, etc.
If anybody reading this is interested, please get in touch directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
Please be aware that I would require participants to be quite candid, and contents of the completed interviews/questionnaires may be included in the final theses, so if there is any sensitive information that you would rather not be discussed then it would be best not to volunteer.
Thanks very much for reading, feel free to also contact me if you haev any further questions.
