Mark,

Do you have a Whitfield or Whinfield Hargett, 7th Kentucky U.S. Calvary. Andersonville survivor. Lore is that he perished on Sultana, though Andersonville website shows he survived.

Any insight is appreciated in advance.

Regards, Steve

Sophie,
A valued member of the Sultana-L mailing list Helen E. Chandler was related to Lt. Harvey & Ann Annis has a extreamly heart breaking tale about how Ann lost both Harvey & seven-year old daughter, Belle to the Sultana.
If this was not bad enough, She had lost TWO husbands before Harvey to the sea. Her story can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nwa/aa.html

Sharon,
I'd LOVE to get a copy of that picture!
My uncle was Lewis Johnson sultana survivor. He was from Henry Co. just 3 miles west of the Henry/Deleware co. line.
If there is any chance I can get a copy, I'd be thankfull!

Yes I am very much interested in a photo of James Nation. I have been to his grave site. I feel that I know him and can only imagine the pain he must have felt when he had to sign off on his brother Enoch's military record.

Let me know the cost and postage.

I am working on the Henry county,IN CW soldier burials, so I would love to have the info. I would estimate that I am have about 40 per cent of them compiled at this time.

If you need info in return let me know.

The Caswell Tipton that survived the Sultana explosion was my ggrand father. He lived on the family farm in Sevier Co., Tn, (Seymour). He married Nancy Wade, daughter of George Wade and Nancy Reid. They had three daughters, Betty, Cordelia (both died young) and Samuel Ethel. The sons were,
William Harvey, Alonzo, Thomas, Benjarman, and George.

Is there a Luke Everett/Everitt listed? In some Everett family data is a note that Luke survived the Sultana disaster. He was the son of Byrd Everett & Nancy Forgy of TN.

Many thanks for checking.
