How can the details of a still born child surname Overton be found?
My mother had a still born child between 1942 when my brother was born to 1948 when i was born. She never talked about the child only to say it had died at birth, I would like to find out more and wish I had asked when my mother was still alive. My bother has little memory of the event so no help there. Is it possible to find out the date of birth and the sex of the child. Any help would be appreciated.

Your mothers maiden name and a likely place of birth for the infant would be a good starting point.

Re: How can the details of a still born child surname Overton be found?
Thanks for taking the time to reply, I can only guess which hospital the baby was born in, if it's the same as my brother's, but that no longer exits, if I put Mum's maiden name and the town in, where exactly to I start searching?

I don't mind having a look, im no expert but sometimes all you need is a fresh pair of eyes.
Can you tell me the town/City the birth took place?

josiereed1 try this: Search records-enter last name only of Overton-enter birth date of 1942 with 5 year span born in Bristol-enter death date of 1948 with 5 year span born in Bristol-enter mothers last name of Ditchfield. Maybe, one of these children listed are who you are looking for. Hope this helps in your search.

Re: How can the details of a still born child surname Overton be found?
The index for stillbirths is not available for searching. I understand that you need to apply to the General Register Office by telephone or in writing and they will send out an application form. Applications are usually only accepted from the mother or father, or where they are deceased, from a brother or sister. Hope this helps. Good luck.
