Source Order on Source Pages

Source Order on Source Pages

I have several source pages on my web site. The sources seem to be in no particular order in these pages, neither numerical nor alphabetical. I would like an option to display the sources in some kind of order, preferrable alphabetical so that similar sources are listed together. Would it be possible to include this feature in a future software issue. I have no knowledge of HTML programming nor do I wish to learn. My interest is in genealogy so please do not suggest I alter the program myself.

Are you using the most recent version?

Sources should be in source# order on the source pages, but not in order by source page. So, for example, source 1, 2, 3, 10 on page 1 and source 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 on page 2, in that order. There is an unusual condition in TMG data that can affect the ordering, however. Let me know which version you are using and I'll get back to you.

John. I am using SS version 1.9 build 16 and TMG gold UK edition version 6.12. Having again checked my source pages I can confirm that the sources are almost in numerical order for each page. This does not concern me however. What I would really like to see in the future, is the facility in SS to arrange the sources in alphabetical order on the source pages. This would allow similar sources to be grouped together. So source page 1 would start at the beginning of the alphabet with the end of the alphabet on the last source page. An option for numerical order (which I wouldn't use) through all the source pages could perhaps also be benificial to some. i.e. source 1 on source page 1 and the highest numbered source on the last source page. At the moment I cannot see the reason or benifit in the way the sources are presently allocated to each page. As an example of what I am driving at look at my web site. My url is http://www.jamesmilne-generations.dsl.pipex.com/index.htm
The MI sources are split over numerous pages. I would prefer if they were grouped together as with all other similar sources. Hope I have made myself clear. James

I didn't design the source pages to be browsed; most users will get there via citations, which link to sources, and so it doesn't matter much where they are: the browser opens the right source page and scrolls to the source.

I'll consider different sorts, but it probably won't happen soon. SS doesn't know which sources are going to be referenced until it finished building the person pages, by which time all those pages have links to the source entries. I'd have to leave place holders and then go back and fix the links in order to put them in any better order than they are in already.
