I switched to Linux (Ubuntu) about 3 years ago and have no Windoze software on my sytem any more. I have about 30K names in my repository. I use a combination of Ancestry.com and GERAMPS to maintain the trees. I use Ancestry as a collarboration tool and allow my other family members to see my data and download. I download to GED and update my GRAMPS on a regular basis and to have with me when I travel. I love the find duplicate and similar Gramplets. I have used PAF, MFT, and many others through my 30 years of research and every one has its advantages and disadvantages. If you would like to play with dome of them, I suggest you try your local LDS location, they usually have most of them installed and will let you explore. Bring your GED on a thumbdrive and enjoy.
