Family tree change spouse to "ex"
Hello,
Bear with me, I'm very new. I have entered my marriage to my ex-husband as it's important to the family tree (my family) for my son from that marriage. I don't want to delete the marriage, and I've added a divorce "event", but my ex-husband still shows as my spouse. What is the best/correct way to handle this?
Thanks!

Re: Family tree change spouse to "ex"
If online, it shows all previous spouses as spouses and you can't do anything about it except add a comment or a "story".
Some home computer software lets you mark your local copy as an ex or relationship ended.
Really don't worry about it. So long as you have all the dates, it is no problem.

Re: Family tree change spouse to "ex"
you bring up your profile page, then select "edit this person" choose "relationships" from the tabs find your ex and click on the bit that says "Spouse change" you get a drop down menu and can then reassign him a new identitiy. hope that helps, there isnt a ex but there is an option for "Other"

Re: Family tree change spouse to "ex"
Just did it. Go to profile-edit this person -relationship events and find the ex-spouse and enter a new event called divorce, and the date. The tree will show a dotted line.

Re: Family tree dotted line for divorce
FTM 2014 - I have changed relationship to divorce and added a timeline event for divorce and a date but the line is still showing solid not dotted?

Re: Family tree change spouse to "ex"
FTM 2014 - this didn't work for me - the line is still solid?

Please edit your message to indicate what software program you are using to build your family tree. Every genealogy program is a little different. Knowing what program you're using will help others to assist you.
