I prefer a narrative form for my family history recording and just want a very simple (preferably free) graphical tree for ease of understanding relationships between direct line ancestors showing name and dates of birth and death(no requirement to show siblings etc).

I am currently using Family Echo(on-line as I am wary of downloading this relatively new software)but I wondered if there was anything better/tried and tested. I have no interest in any of the "over designed" trees with options for reports/photos or fancy patterns/pictures on the finished product! Thanks
