This is the actual letter I am sending today to the returns department of Family Tree Maker for Mac. I think it says it all. -- Terri --

Gentlemen,
I am regretfully returning your software CD, “Family Tree Maker for Mac,” purchased 3/22/2011.
Having been an Ancestry.com member for over a dozen years, I wanted to transfer my files into an offline tree. And for some families in my records it worked. However, other families copied in triplicate, and each “backup” to save my work caused them to re-triple.
My grandmother’s parents wound up with over 90 children!
I spent an entire Sunday afternoon “scrubbing” -- deleting and re-adding each family member, re-connecting each familial link (to parents, then to spouses, then again to children).
I told my kids I was beaming the clones out into space and blasting them. And I thought I was close to done. But then I saw that the media files had done the same thing.
I’m exhausted.
And I haven’t even transferred my husband’s family. What if it does the same thing??
So, you get it back. I hope it works better for the next *poor sucker* (stike thru) customer.
I will be watching for my refund. If you need to contact me, please use my e-mail address below. Thanks.
Sincerely,
