Re: FTMM3 New Patch released
Hi John,
Thanks for this.
It still hasn't appear on the App Store yet, so can the update be released separately for download? so I can download and apply it sooner?
Thanks.

Re: FTMM3 New Patch released
Ancestry sent the patch to Apple and I guess Apple does their own thing in their own time or it is stuck somewhere in the App Store system?
As I understand that the Apple version patch is slightly different from the 'normal' patch, I think you will have to wait
I believe that when you install the App Store version the version number is 22.2.4.782

Re: FTMM3 New Patch released
I am not sure the patch concept can apply in the App Store. You will, as I understand it get the full 426mb new version. The program also has at least one difference in how it works to comply with Apple programming rules.

Ah ok that does make sense.
Just trying to get it sooner if possible! Looks like I'll have to wait :)

Re: FTMM3 New Patch released
I have installed this update. I thought when it was downloading and beginning to update that it said I could now exchange family files between the Mac version and the Windows 2014 version. Is that true? You have a comment about the Mac version now supports the new 2014 database format. If true, can I export a family file and send it to my friend who uses the Windows 2014 version, and he could just import the tree? and also the other way.. can a Windows 2014 version person send me a family file that I can import into my Mac version directly?
Thanks, John

Re: FTMM3 New Patch released
FTM 2014 and FTM3 share the same database
So FTM3 can read a file created in FTM 2014 and vice versa.
So for example, if you have FTM 2014 and your cousin has FTM 3, from FTM 2014 do a File>Backup
(include the media check box as part of the backup if you want to include media)
This will create a compressed .FTMB file that you send to your cousin
In FTM3 you do the reverse File>Restore
Job done
It works exactly the same from FTM3 to FTM 2004
I have an iMac with Windows also installed and both FTM 2014 and FTM 3. I regularly use the same file on either version

Re: FTMM3 New Patch released
I have just found out that you need MAC 10.7 or higher for the patch to be recognised and installed
So (for example) Snow Leopard (10.6) will not allow the patch to be recognised or installed

Re: FTMM3 New Patch released
Thanks for the answer! I use FTM3 and my cousin just bought FTM 2014. He lives in another part of the country, so now I just need to send him the file. Thanks again, John
