Many of the problems are irritatios as it were and fixing them is not perhaps a high priority, I would agree. I cannot say that I lose a lot of sleep over not being able to sort multiple spouses.

At the top of my list are:-

Memory management, the probable source of the crashing.

The delay before the add source dialogue comes up.

The long delay before the filter dialogue comes up. This may be a mixture of the Windows version can't handle large databases problem and my son says the program doing something it does not need to do at that point.

Making the compact command work. This is not a large database issue as if I port my file to Windows, it works fine.

Making export work, be it file or gedcom. Again the comment on the compact command applies.



Even sorting these could well take some time. It has taken from version 2008 to version 2011 in Windows to recognize that the program is only really designed for databases of less than about 15,000 people. It would be one thing if the rivals had the same problem, but they don't although I must admit seeing a complaint by one person that RootsMagic wouldn't speedily handle a database of two million plus.

val290golfgolf may well find that using your browser for interrogating Ancestry might be much more thought provoking and lead to better genealogy than surfing the green leaves.
