If you privatize a file on FTM and then upload to Ancestry, you'd better have a backup tucked away that wasn't privatized. The first time I made this grave error, the privatized tree on Ancestry synced with my unprivatized FTM file and wiped out all data on all living individuals. It.is.not.reversible. Lost -- gone - flushed without a warning... thank God for an old backup I had or someone over there would be feeling my wrath. >:[ Why would this not be a temporary thing, this privatization, because it is a helpful tool, but definitely something the tree owner would want permanently. PUT A WARNING ABOUT IT FOR PETE'S SAKE! I could have permanently lost data on hundreds of individuals. Yeesh.
