I think I'd sync your FTM2012 file to a new AMT file. It's easier to add records than to figure out what people are missing and adding them.

Besides, do you have "stuff" in FTM that also would be lost if you threw it aside? Like what you may have in Fact Notes, for example? AMT doesn't accept Fact Notes from FTM files when syncing.
