If you are thinking of upgrading to Family Tree Maker 2012, I advise you not too. This has got to be the worst program I have ever tried to use. It uses other programs for it to work and even when you have the patch and made sure net framework is up to date 2012 will crash when it tries to copy your file to the new format. If you have purchased this rubbish program make sure you have a safe copy of your files so you can use those to go back to 2010 or better still buy a different program like Roots Magic 5. I have sent e-mail to ancestry.com but they do not reply.
I have used Family Tree Maker for over 10 years and have never purchased such rubbish from a manufacturer before. They are trying to have a monopoly on the geneology market and spend so little on testing and the making of a new program.........yes I am upset....with good reason..... many many hours are spent getting a file together for it to be ruined in min's by this useless 2012 version
