Tree Sync unlinks children from an unknown spouse.

I posted this over on the Ancestry Message Board but it has been suggested that I should post here.

I have a married couple both with previous spouses in addition one party has children with another unknown spouse. I record the children against the spouse and unknown spouse in Ancestry. I then download my tree to FTM 2012. In FTM the children of the unknown spouse have been re-linked to one of the known spouses! Using the "Detach" facility in FTM I then unlink the children from this spouse and they are recorded against an unknown spouse.

FTM notes that I have made a change and tells me I need to Sync which I do. Back in Ancestry the children of the unknown spouse have now been recorded against the known spouse (correct female) AND all the other known spouses (incorrect males). So I now have children recorded with multiple fathers and the unknown spouse has disappeared. I can correct this but it is time consuming and I need to remember which children belong to a particular spouse, and the problem will be repeated with Sync.

I spoke to Tech Support and they told me to create a father called UNKNOWN. This is nonsense as I have a number of similar situtions and I don't want a lot of people called Unknown in my index.

As an aside I have found that when I Sync FTM records a hundred or more unwanted Source Citations against facts in Ancestry.

I have now sorted out my tree and will not use Sync again until all these problems are resolved.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem but there is not much I can do about it as I am not prepared to Sync.
