Had FTM2012 crashed the last time, before you saw the Compact file? Is that the Complete Message? I think you are missing some text of the message.

Not sure how you can change a Place Name IF you are seeing Family Tree Maker is Updating.

It sounds like FTM2012 and your AMT are out of sync.

IF you go to your AMT and still see that it is Updating, Cancel It.

Then open FTM2012, Compact your File, and SyncNow.
