Ok, Web Clipping on my 64bit Laptop is NOW working.
Not because of FTM Tech Support help though.
I got the below response from them:
"Thank you for contacting Ancestry.
We apologize for the complications that you are experiencing. We have had some general problems related to 64-bit Internet Explorer. Normally on Windows you can have 32-bit Internet and 64-bit Internet explorer. If you only have 64-bit Internet Explorer that is probably the problem. Please try installing a 32-bit Internet Explorer on your 64-bit Operating system. When you have it installed make it your default browser. That should resolve the problem. Thank you for your time and have a good day.
If there is anything else with which we might assist you, please let us know."
This turns out to be B.S. I dug around and found out that Win7 installs both 32bit and 64bit IE9, AND only allows the 32bit to be the default. You can run the 64bit stand alone but if you try to make it the default it states bluntly you can not make the 64bit IE the default. Needless to say this did not change my problem on the laptop.
SO HOW DID I FIX IT?
I noted that on my desktop I still had FTM 2011 installed, but only had FTM 2012 on the Laptop. So I installed FTM2011 on the Laptop and BINGO. Web Clipping on FTM 2012 is now working on the Laptop. Go Figure.
Sending a report to FTM Tech support when I finish this.
Let us know if this works for anyone else.
