As I said before, Check out what happens on the Map feature with your "reverse order" of the Places.
---------------------------------
>>>I did. I see no difference between
United States, Clark County, Ohio, Springfield
Or
Springfield, Clark County, Ohio, United States
I get the same map….actually it may be a bit better reversed it gave me my zip code!
I even installed 3D and my parents would be very upset if they saw their house now! And
our old neighbors would have a cow.
-----------------------------------

I also said that you could do that naming and ignoring the warning.
-----------------------------------
>>>I think we might be mis-communicating a tad. I don’t want this reverse order “stored” in the file or printed on reports. I just want to use/see it on the Place screen only for editing and following individuals.
------------------------------------

I DO NOT thing the Migration feature will work using your reverse order convention. I KNOW the migration works using the Place Names that is used by Family Tree Maker.

----------------------------------
>>> Time to Visualize. My Place Screen is divided into 3 parts. LHS is a listing of 4043 places. Center is a map. RHS is the current place with associated people and facts in brief.

Editing:
I am downloading a ton of information off of Ancestry. The above place has at least 6 variations that I can make all the same. Now, put the place names in reverse order. I bet I can find 6 more. The reverse order + the sort puts the most similar places closest to one another. It permits me find all the duplicates or those that should be duplicates easier. It is really NOT the reverse format per say, it is the sort order that is important. It is just that given current sort, reversing place format gets to the same spot….maybe that helps.

Migration:
I probably used the wrong term, migration. But, having all the similar places close to one another on the LHS, permits to be slowly move through each location and look at the names and facts on the RHS. On the other software, I made name connections and saw errors that I couldn’t have done in a million years otherwise!

--------------------------------------

The .CSV file would only work one way. From Family Tree Maker to the .CSV file.
----------------------------
>>>You are correct. The CSV will not work for me. It is styled as a report with associated names. I literally only want the places. It would be easier to grunt through the places than cleaning up the CSV.

You might “plug-in” to Excel or Access. Many software firms have decided they can’t provide all the reports that people want. They are using Excel and Access to give the user greater flexibility.

-----------------------------------------

To convert the Long Place to the Short Name would be One by One.

>>>Yep, I figured. I was just hoping there might be an automated way.

------------------------------------------
I am sure this all is very important to you, but Family Tree Maker uses the Bing Maps and I have found them very, very helpful in three ways. 1) all of my place names are the same, 2) The Place Usage Report is very helpful, and 3) the Migration path on the Map is very helpful.

I do have some Places that I Ignore the waring and I also use the Short Place Names for some specific locations

>>> I have only been at it for a month. Patience. I will learn/adapt or I will convince you to change. People research differently.
