Thanks, Russ. Your explanation helped a lot. I now know where v16 fits into the chronology. I stuck with version 2006 because I liked it, and I still like it. My concern is having an old PC that could die at any time. If it dies, the current operating system being sold is Win 7 which means I could no longer us Version 2006.

I just was looking at Dell's website. If I understand it correctly, they have a PC that can come with Win-7 AND XP pre-installed. I don't understand how a computer can have two operating systems, but that is what they are offering. Does this mean that I could install my old FTM Version 2006 on this new computer, download my trees onto cd's then upload them onto the new computer and this would work? Helen
