I have been an FTM user since I got my first computer using version5! I upgraded to 2012 with trepidation after reading all the reviews and comparing it to others. So far I have no problems with it.

BUT

When I decided to go looking for some plugins and discover there are none to be found - DESPITE the drop-down menu for it... It has forced me to start looking elsewhere.

I've been wanting a program to help me keep track of censuses for generations of families for quite some time - I made a program in excel, to supplement this need, but it is cumbersome going between the two programs. I was desperately hoping someone had the same idea and created something as a plug-in.

Although the FTM plugins eluded me during my search, I found EXACTLY what I was looking for in another genealogy program, called MagiCensus, thru MagiKey. I am in love with the capabilities and possibilities. The user interface leaves a lot to be desired and I miss FTM in that aspect, but function trumps aesthetics.

I will write to the developers of FTM as suggested in this thread. I'm not holding my breath though, as I have been writing them for years with suggestions/requests.
