I said he had over 10,000 docs on his account but looked again and it is almost 120,000. He's been very busy. Sleezebag as David called him

Like pictures, you must have your name and contact information in the document that may be taken. If it is just on the webpage (genealogy.com page) where you have attached the document, the document can be downloaded without the contact information. If you have placed your name and contact information in the document it will be part of the document downloaded. The document, your name, and contact information will go with the document to where ever and to who ever downloads it.

One of the grips on this forum is with pictures. They use site (Ancestry, etc,) field to identify the picture, but the picture can go without the id, as it is not part of the picture. If you want to identify a picture, you must use an image processing program like Irfanview to add the id to the image file its self. It then goes with the picture.

When you do this it is fun to find it, and see where a name collector has downloaded the picture or document, mis labeled it, and placed it in his tree. So you look at the picture it says Jane Doe and he has it attached to Jane Dovoitch. When you see this it is a sure sign not to believe a word he has in his tree. Like the names he collects, it is obvious that he collects documents, and attaches them to his tree without reading them.

PS: Have you contacted wufengmei007? It looks like he may be a professional genealogist. If you contact him, AND he took you document, then he may share information that he has that you do not.

If it looks as though this guy is making money off of hundreds or more or your work including stories/pics, etc. then that is sleazy. At the very least, he could have asked.

No Keith I haven't tried to contact this person. He has almost 120,000 documents and most are not genealogy related. Looks like a document harvester. Apparently Docstoc rewards for how many downloads you get on your account. I doubt very much he has anything to share on my ancestor as probably 95% of info on Internet about him is from me originally. Thanks for your response.

This is link to his docstoc account which lists the almost 120,000 documents it looks like he has harvested: http://www.docstoc.com/profile/wufengmei007

Not sure why he would upload all these documents unless he is making money on them.

Just to follow up: I completed a DMCA complaint form on docstoc website and they did respond and have deleted my ancestor report.

I also requested my account content at genealogy.com be deleted and they responded and said they would do it.

Unfortunately there are other sites showing up that have that report and other info from my genealogy.com account. No telling how many places it has scattered to.

Which goes to prove, if you put it online there is no privacy, and the world will have any thing you put online.

If you can see the information on your monitor, there is no way from keeping the information from not being taken by everyone in the world.

"No telling how many places it has scattered to"

It has probably been scattered to many more places as a result of the discussion on this thread.

And since anyone can access this thread regardless of whether they are or are not a member of Ancestry.com It will probably continue to be scattered forever and forever

Hopefully some lessons learned
