There is a reason why the limitation exists, which is more important for FTM files than music files. Windows in all versions does not immediately write to a removable media drive. This design is to improve performance. Write operations are accumulated and then written in a single command. So, if you make an edit to your file, put the tablet to sleep, and then remove the SD card, you may find the changes were not written to the card. This is not an issue for read-only files like music. You can safely keep read-write files on the SD card only if you "eject" the card before putting the tablet to sleep. The eject operation forces the files to be written to the SD card.
