Just wondering if anyone else has a wishlist for 2015 genealogy software, FTM or not? Here are mine:
1. Add in program that will expand places in a genealogy file to allow for checking of congruence between date of a record and the name of the place at the time. For example, was Florida a state in 1700? Also, will allow storage of the historical name for the place at the time of the record and the current name.
2. For FTM/Ancestry, a more robust hint management function. Allow ability to edit when adding records from hints inside FTM and allow checking specific/new databases against a set of people in your file.
3. For FTM/Ancestry, a more robust media management function that would allow media items to be merged and remained linked to each record or person - thus saving storage space. Creation of a media category that could be set for a specific kind of ancestor - for example, many people seem to be adding 'direct ancestor' and 'military' icons to ancestors in their file that then get uploaded and marked as hints for others that might not apply and clutter the hint management system. If you could flag specific people for these designations then the icon could appear on the fly in pedigree and family file views and optionally appear on charts.
4. Autosearching, hints and better linking with more record providers - for example, from FamilySearch.
