Thanks! It's nice to know I'm not crazy... at least about this. I have started to work only in FTM which is a shame because in some ways it's not as robust for searching and adding data. For example, I find particularly that it fails to find women under their married name unless you edit the search parameters and put it as the surname. Also, you can't edit the fields as you add them.

The people at customer service have been very professional but the final answer usually comes down to "download your file from Ancestry" which is never really an option if you have notes, categories for media, resolved places, etc. Luckily I backup at least once every time I work on my file.

On the other hand, I'm very much addicted to my research. The benefits outweigh the problems for me and I'm getting more done than ever!
