I came here with a similar question to yours. I bought Family Tree Maker 2014 World edition with some Christmas money and it worked brilliantly for about 2 weeks. Then all of a sudden, when I double clicked on its icon, nothing happened. Rashly, I uninstalled it and re-installed it but still it wouldn't open. Then I read that uninstalling it leaves code behind that can prevent a reinstallation working. I discovered how to delete the unwanted code and the application is once again working. However... the act of uninstalling it destroyed the link between my desktop application and the online Ancestry tree - and once destroyed, the link cannot be reinstated, The only recourse is to download the GEDCOM from the online tree, import import it to the desktop version, re-upload it to Ancestry UK and then merge it... which is where we both are right now,
When I've discovered how to merge the two online trees, I will come back and let you know.
