Re: Moving my Ged files over to my Tree in Ancestry

Family Historian allows one to export a tree in GEDCOM (or GED) file format. Ancestry wants one to use the format GED to upload to Ancestry. Thus I have done it many times with no problem. Use the "File" tab and then choose "Export" and then GEDCOM file". Also one can download your Ancestry tree as a GED file to your PC and immediately bring it up in Family Historian.

Hi,
I would like to move my files from PC where I used Family Historian onto Ancestry.
Unfortunately, as I follow the simple guides, I constantly receive an error & it asks me to try again.

I really do not want to have to start again by rebuilding my tree, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You've made the right choice of program.

There is already a very active Family Historian Users' group which has its own website and associated Forum:

http://www.fhug.org.uk

There is also an active mailing list on Rootsweb:

http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Software/FAMI...

Debbie Kennett
