saving census returns onto my hard drive
Hi!Can't find my saved census returns. I press save and find the appropriate folder i want it to go to. Give census name and press save. It looks like it saves, but when I open the folder isn't there. Have tried re saving using same name but says that doc already exists. Can save using flash pen. Where is saved doc going?
Thanks Karen

Re: saving census returns onto my hard drive
Karen,
If you are running Vista it may be going into a virtual folder that is hidden. I'm not clear on the details but have seen this mentioned in some messages.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Re: saving census returns onto my hard drive
Could be, that when you go into the folder where you've saved them to, you're computer isnt set up to read the correct suffix extension. In other words the files are there but the computer only is showing pdf files, or just xls files. You might need to set it to read ALL FILES. Just a thought. Good luck

Re: saving census returns onto my hard drive
I run vista and had the same problem. Nor would it print. I was told by Ancestry.com that it was the internet protected mode that did it and I needed to take Ancestry.com off protected mode. In other words to allow it as a trusted site. Hope this is of help.

Re: saving census returns onto my hard drive
Hi I had the same problem. Just right click on the Internet Explorer icon and say 'Run as Adminstrator'. This should then save in the folder you select Paul

Or you could go to FireFox. I did that to get rid of IE's annoying habits.

Hello Mulwal: *** I hope it was ok to contact you this way as I only have the free ancestry, so I can't send you a message, but can reply to one. I noticed that you have attached items from my tree & am wondering are we cousins? OR are you a researcher for other people and posting to their trees? I live in the USA and it would be great to meet more cousins. Glad you could use the info :) Look forward to hearing from you. Rhonda Kennedy
