My mother is 86 and still wonders what happened to her uncle.

He lived in New York and the last letter from him was "just before the outbreak of WW1" (her words). The letter said that he had met a ladyfriend and they were going on a boat trip. He was never heard of again.

The family had to assume that he had gone on the trip and was shipwrecked as it was unlike him not to make contact.

Flimsy info. but would love to help a wonderful old lady find a solution.

Anyone any ideas?
