I am trying to identify a Thrall family from Gramby CT who perished in the shipwreck of the schooner Elisha Whittlesley in 1832 on Lake Erie. An eye-witness account speaks of "the loss of friend Thrall and family from Gramby, CT and Henry A Holcomb's wife and child." Henry Holcomb's wife Fidelia and little son Samuel were two of the victims. Henry and his father Alexander barely managed to survive. Alexander's wife was Tryphena Thrall. I can only presume the Thralls who perished were her family, but I cannot find her parents or siblings. Any help much appreciated.

I am interested in the wreck of the schooner, as we have the graves in our cemetery in Conneaut, Oh of Fiddia and Samuel Holcomb. Any information you have, would be greatly appreciated, regarding the history of this shipwreck, and the passengers onboard. I know nothing at all about the Holcombs. If you would be interested in a photo of the grave stones, please let me know. Thanks!

Do you have any history of the family? Every summer I plant flowers at the graves, as it is so touching the way the little stone leans up against the larger stone. Our library has mentioned (what little info they have) the family in a history walk. I would love to know more.I would give you my email address, if possible. ML
