I've recently discovered he's my 8th great grandfather and I'd be interested (and delighted) to hear if anyone else is a descendant as well.

I have just learned that he is my 10th great grandfather. I am related to him through his granddaughter, Sarah Wardwell, who married Jonathan Darling.

Hello, he is also my 8th great grandfather, through my mother's (nee Messer) side of the family. I live in Buffalo, NY now but my mother was born in Maine. Looks like they left the Salem area and moved up to Maine.

WOW! There sure are a lot of us, aren't there? And it's a good thing for all of us that Samuel had his children before 1692.

A number of his descendants did end up in Maine, probably in part because Maine was part of Massachusetts back then. My part of Ssmuel's family ended up in Maine, too, but only around the turn of the 20th century. Before that, everybody stayed quite close to the Boston/Salem/Danvers area.

Interestingly enough, after I posted this I discovered another connection to the Salem Witch trials, this time through my father's family which was descended from Edward Farrington. He was also accused of witchcraft in Salem in 1692, though he was only jailed for a time and wasn't hung. He's also my 8th great grandfather. Amazing coincidence.

Samuel Wardwell was also my 8th great-grandfather! My son has done a great deal of research on this subject. I have a PDF file showing how I am descended from Samuel.
