Classification: Query
Surnames: Dane, Faulkner, Willard, Foster, Herrick, Ingersoll, Cloyce, Easty, Proctor, Foster, Appleton, Alcock, Phillips, Emerson
I am descended from Samuel Willard's sister. He wasn't a magistrate. He was the minister of one of the churches at Boston. Another uncle, Samuel Appleton, was an assistant to Depty Gov Danforth and supervised the trials.
I am also descended from Ms. Alcock Foster directly as well as Rebecca Nurse directly (and her sisters Cloyce and Easty as aunts) on two different lines.

My other direct ancestor is Rev. Francis Dane and his descendants, including Abigail Dane Faulkner who was sentenced to hang but was reprieved.

I am also related by blood to both Proctors (descended from their sibs). So far I have counted 13 blood relatives who were either hung, thown in jail, died in jail or sentenced to be hung. Because of the use married names in all the trial records, it's hard to determine who was related to who.
For example, Deliverance Dane, who was accused of witchcraft but never tried. She married Nathanial Dane, the son of Francis Dane. I thought she was only a relative by marriage and then found out her maiden name was Hazeltine. I am descended directly from her brother and her sister.

Other relatives: Rev. Emerson (direct), Rev. Phillips (direct), Henry Herrick (Salem Constable-uncle), Nathanial Ingersoll, owner of Ingersoll's Tavern where some of the trials took place-Uncle), and so on and so on.
