yes, there are real live witches in salem, mass. because it is my birthplace. they refer to witchcraft as the craft and are usually wiccans. none of the people that were hanged long ago in 1692 were actually witches, the putnam family (with the help of rev. samuel parris) concocted it to get even with people they didn't like, including their stepmother mary ( mnu ) veren putnam. the widow of lt. thomas putnam sr. inherited everything in his will as did her son capt. joseph putnam. as a result, mary's stepsons [sgt. thomas jr. and dea. edward] created a conspiracy with rev. samule parris and dr. william griggs to accuse people that had wronged or insulted them. mind you, this is just my opinion, but i feel it is the right one. i have read up on the salem witchcraft trials of 1692 enough to come up with this opinion, plus the fact they recruited a few of my ancestors to help them unwittingly. my ancestors that were unwittingly involved signed papers that apologized for their involvement and helped the families of the sufferers of that horrible time by compensating them for their losses. anything else you need to know about it, feel free to email me at
