I think that I have discovered a bug in the process that creates an Ahnentafel report by WorldConnect.
When I generate an Ahnentafel report from WorldConnect for certain persons in my main database (adbraley_01) I sometimes get unexpected results.
If a female ancestor of the person has had children by two or more husbands, the children of the ancestor husband AND the children of a NON ancestor husband(s) are displayed.
If a male ancestor of the person has had children by two or more wives, only the children of the ancestor wife are displayed.
From my database an example of this can be found at:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=AHN&...Person # 3 Harriet Safronica Hitchcock had children by two husbands and children of both are shown.
It is apparently far more common that a man had children by multiple wives, and there are many examples that show that this does not happen for male ancestors. One from my database is at:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=AHN&...Person # 2 Don Alonzo Robinson had 2 children by his first wife, and 7 by his second, but only the children of the ancestor wife are shown.
I do not believe that half siblings should be included in the extended Ahnentafel that WorldConnect creates.
I have discussed this matter with the Help Desk and they suggested that I post it here.
BTW: I have also posted a new tiny database on WorldConnect at adbraley_00 this database is specifically designed to demonstrate the problem, but with only 20 individuals. I intend to remove it as soon as it has served its purpose.
Thank you for your attention.
Al Braley
