It is bad enough that the ads are all over ancestery.com and they pop up if you try to check social security records. It is are down right stupid to stick them on the world connect pages, which before were clear and you could read rthem. Ancestry.com promised when they purchased rootsweb.com they would not change it, while it is just like ancestry.com now. To bad BIG BUSINESS is so greedy for profits that they can not keep their promises. There goes another resource shot all to heck. Thanks for nothing owners of this mess,

I've just about had it with WorldConnect. After the "Living" debacle I removed my database. Than, I added it back thinking it might be of help to someone. Now the ads are almost the last insult. If I delete everything again maybe I'll get off ancestry.com's SPAM list and again "voice" my objection as to how we are being treated.

I can tolerate the banners, and even the new sidebar of ads, but the pop-ups under WorldConnect are INTOLERABLE! Please tell us that you can eliminate this annoying interference. You can tell the advertisers that I would not seek out their product or service even if it happened to be something I wanted. Gene

The pop-unders are limited to 2 per day per user if cookies are enabled.Of course people using mozilla don't have this problem at all.

I am absolutely livid about the ads on World Connect. Tonight in 35 minutes, I had the NEC Plasma TV ad pop up 14 times while I tried to do research. What normally would have taken me 15 minutes to do took 40, until I finally gave up.
My next email is to NEC to tell them I will NEVER buy one of their products because of this.
Thank you, Rootsweb, for ruining what was a great site for research.

Randy, I use webtv about 90% of the time. My computer gets used to update my files. Maybe I'm seeing something different than compuer users. It appears that every person in my database has an ad on the right. This causes the left side to be all scrunched up.

The right-panel ad is a static width of 120 pixels. At a resolution of 1024x768, that's about 10% of the screen width. That's not much "scrunching" as far as I'm concerned.

Hi All this thread

Well here we are in the year 2 0 1 5 and it

is still as bad.

Some times, I write to the HELP DESK

on both sites.

www.rootsweb.ancestry.com
and

www.ancestry.com

to complain about this irritating BLAST of

Advertisement that

IS TOTALLY UNWANTED.

Finally got tired of all the scantily clad

overtly sexual content as well about selling products.

By now, can STOP POP UPS with browser settings,

not only on this site,

but also through you Internet PROVIDER.

I totally resent

when I change screens that the advertisement

BLASTS

my ear drums with the advertisement at 10 times the decibels higher

than even what comes on the television, once you fall asleep.

That at least, I CAN set my sound controls to MUTE on my taskbar.

Since now, ancestry is the sponsor for www.rootsweb.ancestry.com
and
the World Connect program.

We told that the advertisers are a 'block of ads' that are fed into the

program either daily or monthly.

Sure stinks.

Some of the advertsiers are NOT age appropriate either.

have complained as well, LOUDLY about that as well to the help/support

section. I.e Contact us.

If you were getting ads like you describe you were not getting them from RootsWeb or Ancestry. The rest of us are not getting them. You may be blocking ads with an ad blocker but the real problem is that you have some sort of malware on your computer causing those ads. Your best solution would be to download and run the free version of Malwarebytes.

Possibly they, RootsWeb/ancestry programmers have fixed it.

In the meantime.

the annoying ads just start blaring each time I change pages on their site.

I have clicked very box I can find, to keep the irritating advertisements

from bothering me, while I am concentrating.

Mostly objected to the very scantily clad young things, falling out of

thier tops, as being NOT genealogically pertinent.

Most of those disgusting ads have disappeared aswell.

I felt that at times, there have been children of a very young age who

does use their site.

Just NOT appropriate advertisements.
