Yes, I have tried this, but nothing downloads. I made sure the setting was set to allow downloads, saw it was going to the 3 1/2 floppy but nothing actually downloaded.

I checked to see if it went to the harddrive but nothing is there either. I also read a complete file cannot be downloaded, but is this only for other people's gedcom's?

Hi, Jo-

How are you trying to download the GEDCOM? The correct way to download your own file is to start here: WorldConnect (http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igmuser.c...) and type in your user code and password to access the setup page. Click on the button near the bottom of the page that says "retrieve GEDCOM."

Make note of where the GEDCOM is being downloaded to on your computer--you can either make note of the default location or you can select a location on your hard drive or floppy drive where you wish to have the file placed. Wait for the download to complete.

Then open your genealogy program, navigate to the GEDCOM and import it into your program.

Go to the user setup/edit screen:

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igmuser.cgi

and enter your user code (jmautrey) and password...Click on the standard then click on download at the bottom of the next screen...Save the file to disk and the reimport it...

Be careful not to overwrite the file (don't click anything but download) until you have a copy...

I have lost my complete file in my Legacy program on my hard drive as well as my backup copy. I am attempting to download a copy of the gedcom file from my site but it doesn't download anything when I check the floppy. It also shows to be saving as a PAF file when I use Legacy.

I have changed the setting to allow a download but it still doesn't download.

What am I doing wrong? I checked to see if it downloaded to my hard drive but couldn't find anything.

Any help will be appreciated, I sure don't want to re-enter all 3200 names besides all the additions I need to do.

Thanks
