Hello all,
I have recently been asked to do a family association website.
They want a regular basic account, but also with ability to have message boards & payments/store type area, to sell T-shirts, collect membership dues, etc.
My first thought was to do that as a regular Word Press site from my own hosting account.
But then I started thinking about it, and it's certainly true that at some point, eventually, someone else will take over this family website, and I want to plan ahead for that transfer to be as easy as possible.
Some online searching brought me to Rootsweb, which I am just starting to learn about, but it seems like a good possibility for accomplishing the goal of "transfer site responsibility easily later"
Are you generally happy with Rootsweb's site-building tools?
How would you say it compares to Word Press tools?
And, if I were to build the site in RW, then later need to transfer it to the new site manager, would that be a separate password and access info for them, not related to my Ancestry account? I can tell that RW and Ancestry are working together closely but just wanted to confirm if they are not quite that close. I would be glad to give over the access info at the right time so that the new person can take up the RW family site easily, but I would not want them to have access to my Ancestry account.
any thoughts appreciated.
thanks.
Elizabeth
