HELP!
I constructed my page with MS Outlook 2007 a while back and it's been totally fine, up until last night.
I am using Coffee Cup Free FTP for uploading to the rootsweb host. Thinking that software was wreaking havoc, I also tried using the program SmartFTP, and had nearly the same results.

I updated the page last night (added more pictures and text), and have uploaded my page several times overnight and today; both the index.html file and all the photos. The "index.html" file went into the main "genealogy" directory folder, and all the image files went into a subfolder that says "index_files."

I thought maybe the images needed to be in the main "genealogy" folder, so I uploaded them into that folder as well. It didn't fix the problem. All images in the "index_files" folder are numbered (EX: image001.jpg), there are no personal names. Do I have to upload the pictures with names as well maybe? For instance - if image001.jpg is actually called jonipicture.jpg, do I need to have both in the folder at the FTP space? If so, what folder do they need to be in? The main "genealogy" folder with the "index.html" file or in the "index_files" folder with all the other images??

Here is my page link - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~joni4ta/

My webpage keeps coming up visibly wrong in my online browser (Internet Explorer 7), with photos showing up in places they don't belong. For instance, if you go to my page and look on the right side about 3 mouse wheel turns down, you see where it says "Document proving parents of Francesco Capuano and Rosa Giallombardo, Click the picture." That picture is supposed to be of a small document that links to a larger one I have in full size at flickr.com (just like the other two documents to its left). Instead the picture is of my father, myself and mother - which is supposed to be further down on the page!! And there are several instances of this kind of error - pictures in the wrong spot, throughout the page. However, when I open the "index.html" file that's on my local machine into my browser, everything looks totally perfect. Same when I open the local file in MS Outlook 2007.

I have deleted all files off the rootsweb server and re-uploaded every single one of them SEVERAL times, and no two times does the page ever look exactly the same! Pictures are in the wrong places throughout the document. I do not know what I am doing wrong. As far as I can tell I have not changed my upload process from the times I have uploaded the webpage and successfully done updates on it in the past.

Suggestions anyone???

Thank you very much!
Joni

My bad - please replace any reference in the above post from MS Outlook 2007 to MS Office Word 2007. Obviously we can't create html pages in Outlook LOL

I'm not seeing the problem. "Document proving parents of Francesco Capuano and Rosa Giallombardo," appears as this image: index_files/image121.jpg
which is linked to
href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1043/1246653496_c55aa94f20_o....

If you are seeing something else, have you tried clearing your browser cache?

I updated my post here:
http://boards.ancestry.com/topics.rw.freep/1211/mb.ashx

That problem was fixed, but there still is a problem, if you read in my post,

"""I seem to have fixed SOME of the issues from this post:
http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.rw.freep/1210/mb.ashx

Instead of using CoffeeCup FTP or SmartFTP software, I went and uploaded my files item by item at the Rootsweb File Manager/Online Editor here:
http://freepages.rootsweb.com/fileman/file_manager.cgi

And STILL there are two photos that won't straighten up!

My main directory ("genealogy_html") shows these two files:

index_files (which is a folder/subdirectory)
index.htm (last edited Aug 28th, 2007, and file size 152089 )

Under the "index_files" folder are these file names:

File name, *view*, Date last modified, file size (bytes)

So does anyone see anything wrong with this?
Here's my webpage link again:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~joni4ta

Now, if you look down the page, about 4-5 mouse wheel turns down, in the paragraph under the 3 coats of arms, it says,

"Below are two photos of the local Catholic Church located at Piazza Del Popolo in Lascari. The name of the church is St. Michael the Archangel, where undoubtedly our ancestors were parishioners; were baptized, received Holy Communion, Confirmation and were married, etc. The church was built in the 18th century, as the town was formed."

And under that paragraph are two photos that are NOT the church!!!! The funny thing is, these same two photos are further down the page in their rightful place under the WANN surname heading.

WTH is going on here!?!?!?!?!?!"""
