I've had over a dozen of these situations over the past weeks and reported them to the help desk
explaining why we need the ability to edit subject lines.

I received several replies telling me, once again, to post a message to the poster, blah, blah, blah. If the OP doesn't follow the simple directions that are included in the subject line window and the community guidelines, why should I spend time teaching posters how to post a message when they don't reply or get angry because I'm instructing them how to post? I once asked a poster not to post in ALL CAPITALS and they sent me a nasty email telling me, in essence,

" DON"T TELL ME HOW TO POST MESSAGES!! I'LL POST THEM HOWEVER I WANT !! "

I've always kept my boards neat and orderly and now they are jumbled up with replies that don't belong and posters who "hi-jack" a thread by requesting information about something or someone that is totally unrelated to the original thread. Since the subject line can't be edited, I'm also stuck leaving the reply in a thread where it makes no sense and has no relevance.
