I am looking for information on my grandmother's side of the family. She was a Luetzow (Lutzow)

Her father was Charles Luetzow, born in 1855 and emigrated to the USA in or about 1870. He settled in Wauwatosa (Milwaukee County ) Wisconsin. His wife's name was Magdelena Reinganz.

I am especially interested in finding his birthplace, and then the name of his church where he was baptized, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Charles and Magdalena Luetzow are my great grandparents!
Their son Albert (& Alma Haas) Luetzow are my grandparents. Your name sounds very familiar to me!\
I was born in Milwaukee and we moved to Seattle when I was 7. Do you know Joan & Gus Luetzow who live in Milwaukee, or Phillip Forrestall who lives in Milwaukee? I will be anxious to hear your reply!
Sincerely, Midge Luetzow Sweley, Kent, WA

OK, I am your second cousin. My grandpa Albert and your grandma Louisa were brother and sister. As a child, I remember hearing the name Maas and also Patzke. Della Patzke was one of my dad's baptismal sponsors.

Where do you live? I am going to be in Milwaukee in October.
Do you live there? or in OHIO? I am guessing OHIO because of the information my dad received from a Irwin Luetzow who did research in the 1970's. He lived in Lake Mills, WI I think. The Gus and Joan Luetzow I spoke of in my previous email live in Milwaukee as does Phillip Forrestal.

Charles parents were Heinrich Luetzow and a Marie Boesel. Not sure of the spelling of that name. Heinrich was married a 2nd time to a Charlotte Meyers. Gus Luetzow is descended from Charlotte Meyers and Heinrich. We have been searching for years for Heinrich's parents. Family lore says that we are from the Family of Ludwig Adolf von Luetzow the man who started the Prussian Frie Corp, Black Soldiers. Sort of gorrilla/mercenary soldiers. He did not have children, but he came from a larger family. We are happy to find you.
I can't wait for your email!!! Sincerely, Midge Luetzow Sweley

There's an obituary for a Charles Lützow (1878) published in Milwaukee's German newspapers. He committed suicide, leaving a wife and 2 children. There are followup clippings detailing the coroner's inquest. His name is spelled "Lütelzow" in the initial article, and then corrected in the following clippings.
There are also entries for a Charles Luetzow (1923), and a Carl (1889) found in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
Any research on this surname should take into account both spellings in any 19th or early 20th c. index.
