I am looking to find descendents of Kaiser Wilhelm II. It has been rumored through our family that we are distant relations, but I have yet to find the connection. Our German last name was von Rundstedt but was changed to Rundt when ancestors immigrated. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

The easiest and best print source for the descendants of Wilhelm II, German Emperor and King of Prussia (aka Kaiser Wilhelm II) is to get yourself a copy (either through purchase or through an inter-library loan) of *Queen Victoria's Descendants*, by Marlene A. Eilers (Rosvall Royal Books, 1997). As Wilhelm II was a grandson of Queen Victoria, all of his descendants are found in this publication.

If you cannot locate a copy of this excellent book, you might want to use a reliable online source called "An Online Gotha", by Paul Theroff, at this URL: http://pages.prodigy.net/ptheroff/gotha/gotha.htm Once there, click on the link marked "Prussia", and scroll down until you find "Wilhelm II".

Two comments.

First, you phrased your subject line as "Kaiser Wilhelm lineage", but ask for "descendents of Kaiser Wilhelm II" in the text body. Lineage refers to someone's *ancestors* (those who came before him/her), whereas *descendants* are just that, descendants (those who came after him/her who are descended from that person's body).

Second (and this is going to burst your balloon), there are no "von Rundstedt" or "Rundt" among the descendants of Wilhelm II. The von Rundstedt family was an untitled aristocratic Prussian family(*). (This means they were aristocrats or nobles, but without a title such as baron (Freiherr, in German), count (Graf, in German), etc...) To the best of my knowledge, none of its members married into the Kaiser's family because the royal Prussian family (and later, the imperial German family) had very strict marriage laws. One had to be an equal to marry a prince of that family, that is, one had to be a princess from another royal family.

(*) For information on what it means to be a German noble or a German aristocrat, see http://www.heraldica.org/faqs/atrfaq.htm#p3-2

Finally, for genealogical information about the von Rundstedt family, see a series of German-language books called *Genealogisches Handbuch des Adels*. The specific volume you'll need is 49: AA XI 1971. Any number of large public libraries or university libraries would likely have this series of books, commonly abbreviated as GHdA.

you seem to have a great knowledge of the differnt Kiasers familys I was wondering if you have came across any information on the following family.

I was told that my great mother was a second cousin to Queen Victoria. My grandmothers name was Nancy Barenz her mothers name maiden name is M Eva Wilhelmina her last name is unknown.

I’ am looking for any information on M Eva Wilhelmina) and any siblings they may have had. I would like to find out what her Father and mothers names were as they are my Great Great Grandparents. Eva Was born in Yugoslavia and born November 14, 1871 Apparently Eva was the daughter a very important wealthy political man. The story was that he was beheaded for political reason I'm not sure if this part is true or not. At the young age of 13 Eva was left alone to fend for herself. Eva’s mothers’ whereabouts is a mystery today. A young man whom now is her husband Peter Barenz found Eva 1/2 dead in a ditch. Peter was born in the village Offerencia(town or Villiage), Banlak(District), Torontal (Province), Eva and her husband Came to Canada in 1912 they had 14 children. 6 of which I know came to Canada with them the other 8 children are believed to have died from diptheria or at birth one died jumping a fence and ruptured his bladder. I thought if I could find more on Peter Barenz it might lead me back to my Great Great Grandmother. One more thing Peter and Eva moved to a town called Gyorgyhaza I think the English translation is George House and at this time applied for their passports. I thank you for any help you can give me.

As you are probably aware many tales are passed down in families that one family member was related to different royal linage including that of the past german royals.

Yours may be, but it is almost impossible to confirm as that family rightfully so holds tight information of their linage and who may have been part of nobility within their lines, to avoid outside claims.

There is one specific way of confirming if one may possibly be of the same gentic blood line. For further information on what has been spoken about write to the House of Frederic at
house_of _Frederic@yahoo.com

We wish you good luck on your quest.

I don't know much about the Kaiser, but I'm supposed to be marrying one of his nephews or decendants in some way that is directly connected to his family. I am also looking for information on the family, my fiance isn't proud of what occured in WWII with some of his relatives, if you have any information on his decendants up to Erich Von Rundstedt it would be much appreciated, and I would be willing to share what I know.

What did your fiance claim the Hohenzollerns did during the war? The Nazis had little use for the Hohenzollerns and the Hohenzollerns had little use for the Nazis! That's why Kaiser Wilhelm II's 1941 funeral in Holland was kept so low-key. See the following web page:

http://www.eurohistory.com/hohenzollernheir.html

I would suggest you simply contact Prince Georg Friedrich, the current head of the family, for additional information about other Hohenzollern descendants. If your fiance is a member of the Hohenzollern family, he must know Prince Georg Friedrich:

http://www.preussen.de/en/family/prinz_georg_friedrich.html

And how do the Rundstedts supposedly fit into all this? Am I correct in assuming that you're referring to the family of Field Marshall Gerd von Rundstedt (1875-1953) of World War II fame? The Rundstedts go back more than 700 years. Their ancestral home is in the region known as the Altmark, which is located in the northern part of today's German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Although the Rundstedt family stood in the service of the reigning Hohenzollerns down through the centuries, they were in no way whatsoever related to them. (Gerd von Rundstedt was very apolitical. He could in no way be ranked as a Nazi.)

Hello and thank you for your reply the information that you supplied me with was very helpfull. My fiance, is a member of the VonRundstedt family, and is accourding to him Barron Erich Von Rundstedt of Bavaria. I am trying to find this information out to further my knowledge of the Royalty of Germany, and to make sure that I don't give up my inheritance for him if all my facts arn't correct.

and yes I am talking about Gurd Von Rundstedt and from what I know about him, he was a highly trusted member of Hitlers inner circle, but not a fan, just doing what he needed to survive. But then again I am just scratching the surface.

Thank you so much and hope to hear from you again.

Ciao

Matt

I just read the obituary for George Barenz. One of my next steps is to find his siblings. The obit says he left one brother. I wonder if "George House" isn't "George's house"? He could be the brother I am looking for??? Do you have a date of birth for Peter?

Just putting out some information and hoping that some day
someone may come across the answer to my possible relationship to the Kaiser. It was told to me by a
relative that our Grub family came from Mommenheim, and
that in 1866 his grandfather came to the U.S. as a Von
Grub. He dropped the "Von" at the time of WWI because he
was a cousin to the Kaiser. It was suggested that the
original name might have been Grubben or Grubbenhaugen.
His mother's maiden name was Ebling - so maybe the relationship came from that side of the family. And it was not said what "cousin" this was - cousin can mean so
many things other than "first cousin". I do not expect
the answer to just pop up - this will probably take much
research - but just thought I'd put it out there, just
in case someone holds a clue, etc. Thanks, Ms. Group
(As you can see the Grub name then later evolved into Group)
