My great grandfather was also one of the illigitmate children of the royal line of denmark, and he was in an orphanage around that same time. What was yours last name?

My great grandfather was Christian Ankersen Hansen before he became a citizen of US which is when he dropped the Ankersen Dawn

There was an orphanage in Copenhagen at that time funded by Countess Danner and her husband, King Frederik. I am also looking for a grandmother born in Copenhagen in 1857. the story is that she was adopted by a Count and Countess that owned an orphanage.

HI Dawn..this is a long shot as you posted this years ago. My great, great, great grandfather was Christian Ankersen Hansen! I was wondering if you could tell me what you have found out. I seem to be getting conflicting stories as to who his father was. Hope you get this! Thanks! Heidi
