EMPRESS JOSEPHINE

My ancestor (born in 1802) was a lady in waiting, member of the Royal House of Holland, and cousin to the queen. She fled to America to avoid marrying a German prince.

Empress Josephine's daughter, Hortense, was briefly the queen of Holland at that time, so I'm wondering if it was possible that it could have been her.
My ancestor even gave her son a French name, Lafayette.
Also, Napoleon arranged a marriage for a member of his family to a German prince, and forced them to marry. This sounds similar to my ancestor's situation... I was wondering if it was even possible to find a cousin of Hortense's.
Any theories, ideas, information about the Bonapartes, info about Hortense, or info about Joshephine, would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Hortense was the wife of Louis Bonaparte, who was installed as King of Holland in 1806 after the French took over. He was deposed in 1810. They had two sons, Napolean III Emperor of France and Napolean Louis Bonaparte, Grand Duke of Berg. You said your ancestor had been born in 1802 and Hortense and Louis Bonaparte were married 4 January 1802. They may have had a daughter that year which is your ancestor. It is also possible that your ancestor was a relative of Hortense. I hope this information was of use to you.

Louis and Hortense had 3 children:
- Napoleon Charles * 11-10-1802 + 05-05-1807
- Napoleon Louis * 11-10-1804 x Charlotta Bonaparte
- Charles Louis Napoleon * 20-04-1808

According to me they had no daughters. And according to the birth date of the first child, it is not possible they had a daughter born in 1802.

Thanks to both of you for replying!
I was suggesting that my ancestor may be Hortense's cousin. I was wondering if that's at all possible. Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated!

This website gives all the descent of Bonaparte family. There is only one member of the House of Bonaparte to come to the United States, Jerome Bonaparte, came to Baltimore and married an American, Elizabeth Patterson. He was called back to France, had his marriage annulled and was forced to marry the Catherine of Wurtemburg.
The website for information on the House of Bonaparte and descendants to modern times is:
