Hello. I am hoping someone could help me. I have recently found out that my family belong to the Benjamins of L'Isle du Gast, who were Margraves. I am hoping someone could help me find more information on the extent of the family, how they acquired the title, and if there is a current holder of it.

Thank You,

I know that there was a family called Benjamin de L’Isle du Gast which were part of the nobility of Limousin. The family is named in the “Nobiliare du Limousin by l’abbé Nadaud. There was a member of this family who became Bishop of Limoges from 1730-1739. There is an article called « Installation solennelle de Benjamin de L’Isle du Gast dans son évêché de Limoges (1730) », in Bulletin de la Société archéologique et historique du Limousin, tome 139, 2011. I don’t know if this family is titled or if it still exists today in France. The family is not listed in the latest Bottin Mondaine. To note: there are no titles of margrave in France, there are marquis/marquise titles.
