Looking to Form Albright Reunion

Hello Albrights of Oregon! My name is Tom Albright and I am looking to form an Albright family reunion. The trouble is, I don't know any of you. My grandfather, John Carmi Albright, Jr. was not a man to whom family was important. I know I have many cousins in the Corvallis area (Ratters and Albrights) and that's it. So, if you are descended from George Henry Albright (1855-1938), please drop me a line! George's children were Lewis Elrod, John Carmi (my great grandfather), Mary Eleanor Albright Gillis, George Frank (G. Frank), and Forrest Alvis. Thanks for reading this and I look forward to hearing from anybody! My email address is phantom110@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Re: Taylor/Buchanan Reunion in Oregon

I am Tamara Buchanan Barker- daughter of Nolan Buchanan, grdau of Joseph, grgr- Thomas Alexander & Mary LaVilla, grgrgr Alexander Armstrong & Nancy Jane- grgrgrgr James & Margaret, as well as Marion Taylor & Emily or Emma J. Million. I have been searching for years. My father died when I was 14 and we didn't have the best communication after that with his family, as his father was deceased, also. The one reunion that we received word of was at a time when we were unable to attend. My youngest son married a girl from Payette, ID. I'm hoping to get there this summer (we live in Western Montana). My father was born in Copperfield, which I understand no longer exists, but I wanted to visit that area, as well as Halfway, where my grandfather lived. I'm not sure what I'm looking for, but I would dearly love to knkow more about my ancestors. If you could help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Taylor/Buchanan Reunion in Oregon

A family reunion is planned for Aug. 20-22, 2004 in Halfway, Oregon. Ample accomodations and/or RV-camping are available. Please contact me for further information.

Marion Taylor married Emily Million in MO and then settled in OR. One of their daughters, Nancy, married Alexander Buchanan. Most of the Buchanans are well documented but the Taylors are pretty thinly represented. The most prominent names on the Taylor side are Chipman and Duke.

If you think you might belong to one of these families, contact me and we'll check it out.

However, I do not know where he is now, nor how to get in touch with him. I saw him once, since 1943, at a family reunion in Portland.

I will try to get a copy of the book on the Oregon Trail . Could you suggest where I could get it & how much it costs? My greatgrandmother came to Oregon on the Trail when she was 2 years old with her parents, William and Eliza Jane Masterson.

Where and when will the reunion be held? I may be able to come. Didn't recognize the name of the town where it is to be held. What town is it near that I would recognize?
Lynn

Your reunion shounds very interesting. My greatgrandmother came to Elgin, Oregon on the Oregon Trail when she was two years old. Her maiden name was Masterson. I've heard that her family was well known in that area. She married Jim Clark and moved to Antelope, OR. They were early settlers in the Antelope valley. I am not familiar with the town where you are holding the reunion. Where is it located?

Lynn Dunbar

I just looked up some of those names in my Donation Land Claim book and see most of those came before 1853, I think. i have been dong some studying of DLCs trying to learn patterns of settlement. So a lot of names sound familiar. T19S R3W had 23 who came in 1853 of 48 total DLCers. T19 R1W had 5 who came in 1853 of 24 totals DLCers. I totaled them all for Lane Co.

Have you seen the book "Traveling with the Oregon Pioneers of 1853", by Donald Clark 2002?

Since a lot of the 1853 travelers went to Lane Co some of your family may be mentioned. He tells the stories by using diaries from those who traveled in 1853.

I helped him with some of the research and some of those names sound familiar.

Dear Randy,

I'm just beginning to search the Pitneys in my family. My great, great grandmother was Marcia E. Pitney, born around 1842 somewhere in Ohio. She married William A. Watts (born in either Ohio or Canada) and after Ohio they lived for a time in Pennsylvannia and by about 1865 they were in Como, Hopkins Twp., Illinois. By 1880, they were in Cook County (Chicago, Ill.). Do you have any tips for me as to where to search in Ohio for Pitneys?

Thank you, Cynthia

Jim, et.al.,

Randy Pitney here. I lost all my addresses a year ago and just time to find you. I've retire as Athletic Director at the University now. After coach I was in that position for four years. Well now I have time to get back into the Genealogy.

I just became president of the Oregon Pitney's Family Reunion. We have had them every year since 1962. We want to make this a BIG one and maybe go to every few years after this one. This will be the 150 year centennial of my GR and GRGR grandfathers coming over the Oregon Trail from Ohio via Missouri. It will be Aug 8th and 9th. We would like to see as many of the Pitney's around the world come join us. Friday will be at Oregon City and Saturday at Junction City at where the original homestead still is. There's lots of the westward history there. Another brother, Cyrus, also came over a few years earlier. We'd love to have you and everyone related to join us. I'll give you more of the details later, just wanted to let you know now so everyone could start planning on it.

I am leaving for a month on our annual crusade to Hawaii, Monday. So wouldn't be very active until I get back, but again just wanted to get the word out now. Please pass this along to everyone you have addresses for.

Your webpage looks great!!!

Also, while I was at the Final Four in Indianapolis a couple years ago I met another Pitney, I believe Joe, in a room across the hall in the hotel. I think he was from Ohio also. Do you know him? I think he was a line driver.

Let me know if you get this.

Randy Pitney
