Thanks for your response. Sorry for the delay in replying. I have been in Ireland and only back a few days. (I live in N.Z.) I went to the reunion and it was great. About 150 people attended, which was about twice the number expected. There were stories, songs, history and lots of mingling and talking. Not enough time! I preume you are a Seaver? Where were your family from? Mine were from Ballyboughal, North County Dublin. They immigrated to Australia in 1864. We can continue to exchange information if you like,. Good to hear from you!

This is a preliminary announcement of the reunion planned for August 2006 in the Carrick area of SW Donegal. More info will follow.

At a recent meeting in Carrick, a reunion committee was set up and the dates for next year’s Carrick Area Reunion were agreed. It will take place between Friday 4th August 2006 and Sunday 13th August 2006. The programme will be announced at a later date and the event will be open to everybody with connections to Carrick and surrounding areas. If you know of somebody else who should know about this, please forward this message to them. If you are located where there is a notice board which might be seen by a potential attendee at the 2006 reunion, please print off the attached notice and spread the word.

Thanks for your replies. The organizers of the Seaver reunion in Ireland have decided they want to wait till it is 5 years since the last one, which will make it in 2007, so there is still a while to wait I'm afraid. All this is out of my hands, I live in New Zealand. I will post details as soon as they are available.
Are you descended from George Seaver's family line? You must realize that they are the Armagh Seavers. Mine are the North County Dublin Seavers. I have some copied extracts from the book, and I also read a copy in the library in Dublin when I was there. His research has been a huge help to anyone researching the family. Thankyou for you offer of help.
My Seavers left County Dublin in the 1860's for Australia, and so I am Australian, now living in New Zealand. I did my research back as far as the end of the 1700's, and don't think I will be able to get much further back than that.
Good luch with your own research, and I would be interested to hear what Seaver line you are connected to.

Rita from Q'ld. Australia again, would love to be able to go to the re-union but somehow I don't think it will be this year, but Don I am interested in this DNA Project can you tell me a bit more about it, also how does one get involved ?
I'm still waiting on a marriage cert. for my Gr.Grand Father's John O'Leary, I should have a bit more to go on then, his wife was born in Australia, but he was born in Ireland.

Our O'Leary DNA Project is with Relative Genetics and our coordinator is Bonnie Harvey - Irishdancr@aol.com You can get all of the details from Bonnie but the DNA applicant must be an O'Leary or Leary male related to you, preferably the oldest member of the family, but not a must.

Good luck and welsome aboard if you have a candidate, whom we fondly refer to as a 'spitter'.

This is prior notice that a second Seaver family reunion will be held in County Dublin, Ireland, later in 2005.
This will be for all descendants of the two branches of the Seaver family - North County Dublin and Armagh.
All Seaver descendants will will be welcome, and we know there are many outside Ireland - in the U.K., America and Australasia.

There is a Clan Rally in Enniscrone, County Sligo , on 12-14th September 2003 , but nothing before then that I, or other members of the Clan Association know about. As the names Dowd , Dowds and O'Dowd are all the same (from the Irish O'Dubhda) there is only the one rally. It is hoped that a website will be operating soon and this will give more information aboout the gathering as well as historical and other detaoils.

Hello, sorry about the wait. I am a Seaver, but I am just getting started with my genealogy. I'm located in the U.S. and would have loved to have been at the reunion. I've traced my fathers' line back to Robert Seaver, brn 1608 in England. I have not much info. before as to his parents and what not. I am under the impression that he was related to the Seavers' loacted in Armagh. I only wish I knew more, no one I've talked to seems to know anything. Would love to hear from you. Thanks so much.
