On June 2nd 2013 we will be holding a Family Gathering at Taffs Well commencing at 11 am until approx 5 pm.
An invitation is extended to all individuals with a family link to Toghill line.
We have hired the local Village Hall so that there will be room for everyone and the opportunity for people to meet and mix with other members of the family

The event will be an opportunity for all members of the family to meet in a social setting and exchange family information.

This reunion is for anyone who is descended from, or otherwise connected to, any of the three United Empire Loyalist brothers who arrived in Nova Scotia 230 years ago this year. While focusing mainly on the two brothers who settled in Digby Coounty, John Morehouse in Sandy Cove, and James Morehouse in Centerville, descendants of Jonathan Morehouse, who settled in Annapolis, Nova Scotia and Daniel Morehouse, who settled in York County, New Brunswick, are also welcome. Celebrating 100 years since the arrival in Australia of Charles and Mary Massam (nee Halsall) and family of nine in 1913, from Lancashire, England. A large part of the family spent years farming in the Yerapin area of the Bruce Rock Shire. The unmarried ones who stayed were Queenie, Peggy, Elsie, Charlie and Joe. Harry (also unmarried) worked on the farm for years, and later moved to Perth and became a school cleaner. Ann (Queenie) Massam ran the one-teacher Yerapin State School for decades until it closed in 1942, then taught in various other country schools. The Tom Massam (Senior) and Kit family farmed with Jack Massam at Narembeen, leaving there around 1934, and ran a shop in Perth. The Jack and Vi Massam family moved to Mount Magnet in the 1930s, goldmining. Years later the moved to Perth. The Ted and Bobby Massam family were on the railways, and later farmed at Mukinbudin for years. Later the couple moved to Jurien Bay, then to Gingin. My grandparents farmhouse still stands on Rt 68, Belleville WVA. It faces the Ohio River. I just heard about the Staats Reunion from a distant cousin Rita whom father was a Staats too. I can't believe there is going to be a Staats reunion right there is Belleville. I would love to attend. My mother has two living brothers, Percy Staats and William Staats. Come early and stay all day! We have an above ground pool. So, bring your swimming suit, sunscreen, and a beach towel, and life jackets for your small children,
if needed, we have none. Also, adults the pool is about 4' deep, so even if you can't swim you can still cool off in the pool and have a fun day. If you have outside games, bring them and bring a lawn chair!

Hamburgers, hot links,hotdogs, and all the fixing will be provided. We will also provide chips, plates etc. for a small $5.00 per adult fee.

We do have a Reasor's Grocery and a Wal-Mart if you would like to get a side dish and/or dessert to bring. Then you won't have to cook! Please bring what you would like to drink (please no alcoholic beverages).

Family is so important and we sometimes forget that in our busy lives. Our children are growing up an leaving home. Our parents are getting older, and some have already passed. So, please, young, old, and in between, come and spend a day with "YOUR" family. It will be a memory you will have for the rest of your lives!!! If you would like to stay the night and float the river while you are on this side of the state, please feel free. I can't promise you a bed but I'll give you a space to sleep.

Hunt reunion in Florida

Are there any Hunt's out there of African-American heritage that are having a reunion this year or in the near future? I have been trying to find any relatives of my father Freeman Hunt or his siblings, Willie, Fred, James, Matthew, Josephine and Cora. I believe they lived most of their lives in southern Florida around Pompano, Hollywood, Hallandale and Vero Beach. They also may have moved around to several different states, I'm not sure. JUNE 25TH,2000 IS THE FISHER REUION.THE NEXT WEEKEND IS THE BAKER REUION.THEY HAVE BEEN AT SWINGS LAKE,CONCORD ,MICHIGAN FOR LONG AS I KNOW OFF.WOULD LIKE TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THE BAKER SIDE OF THE FAMILY.I'LL BE AT THE FISHER REUION THIS NEXT MONTH.
