Sorry, must have been a while ago as I can't remember it, but do not have it now. When I couldn't locate someone to pass books on to I sent them to libraries or historical societies so I could have done that with it.

I have the book "History Book Saga of LITTLE PRAIRE-CHETWYND" It has several reference to a David Wartenbe who had brothers, Claud and Van. I also have a photograph of this family. Could this be the David Wartenbe family you refering too?

My name is Christopher Gray Garrett. My father (Edward Martin Garrett) graduated from Advanced Flying School,Stockton Field,California May 1941 - Class 41-D.

My father was in the 17th Bombardment Group/95 Bomb Squadron out of Pendleton and flew B-25's, along with many of the Doolittle Raiders, such as Robert M. Gray,Robert Meder,Richard Knobloch and Edgar McElroy.

I have a copy of the University of Washington Tyee from 1931. Just wondering if there is anything I could do with it that would help anyone out. I'm new to the site so am not sure about this.

Kansas Family - unknown last name

Ok, this is a LONG shot, but who knows! I have been surprised more than once!

I am looking for a family that is supposed to be from the Topeka area. They had a son that attended Sacred Heart College in Wichita for four years and was a Senior in 1969. He had 7 borthers and 3 sisters, and he was the youngest. His dad was supposed to have died in his 50's, while his mother was about 70 by the time he was in college, which means his father would have died as a young child, could have been just a couple of years old, to maybe 10 years. I was also told one of his sisters had breast cancer (this was probably prior to 1969, as I dont think there was any contact with this family.) They are also supposed to be German.

The son I am looking for is supposed to have been about 5'10", hazel eyes, and suposed have had olive skin (although that is odd for a German).

Some of these facts may be inaccurate, so if this sounds at all familiar, please contact me!

Where would/should I upload a picture from 1919 - Jefferson School in Oakland, CA. My g.grandmother is in it - but so are 20 other children/teens. I would like to share it but I can't seem to find a good place that does that. Any ideas?

I was told that the information in the R.L.Polk City Directory was close to a year behind. Years ago someone went door to door to collect the information, then it had to be compiled and printed/sold to merchants. So, if it was a 1950 book, the info was mainly from some time in 1949 I would think. The lady at the library told me this....Remember they did not have computers back in those days.

Does someone know how the date of a city directory is related to its publication date and when the information was collected?

For example - Was the Denver City Directory for 1928 published in 1927 for the upcoming year of 1928? This seems reasonable to me but I'd like a reference if someone has one.

Half brother?! Oh my goodness! So the divorce and remarriage of Gertrude really did happen. I'm so excited to be talking to even half relatives! So you would my great half uncle and me, your great half niece then. This has just made my day! I've been trying to find my grandfather's family forever, and have been trying to find out why Robert and Gertrude left Indiana and all of their kids. Did your mom ever say why? And why did she leave Robert or did he die?

You're welcome. Website is administered by Nan Melton. In the case of the 1920 Stockton High Guard & Tackle, the DB has scans of the entire book. If you go to the basic website (Golden Nugget Library) you get an idea of her "turf", basically select CA counties, primary NorCal (she's from Lodi originally).

The robustness of the post depends a lot on what she has to work with. She does a lot of scanning but of course that means one has to supply the original material (which I've done in a few cases). She appreciates it if you can provide the scans. If you are willing to do this be sure you coordinate with her ahead of time as to format (normally PDF) and desired file size.

Because searching the DB apparently requires text files, she really likes index files to go along any posted photos if they're available; i.e., she could use the name/page combo you've already generated for the 1920 Annual as an add-on to photo listing. This would make it a lot easier for someone searching for a person who is in that book because it not only reflects the name but which page(s) it is on.

I grew up in Stockton and have tried to support her with what I have because she offers the resource for free. Based on the offer in your posts, you apparently have the same philosophy.
