Hello All,
I have a question regarding New York City death certificates created past a certain date. From the 1940s or so onward*, instead of indicating a cause of death, they note whether or not the death was due to natural causes, and assuming it was due to natural causes, indicates that these are "more fully described in the confidential medical report filed with the Department of Health." Do you know whether it is possible (for individuals deceased in the 1940s and 1950s in NYC) to obtain copies of these medical reports and, if so, how they can be obtained?
Thanks very much!
*(I haven't looked up the exact date when the certificates were changed and this practice was started; I have just seen it on records from that decade forward.)
