Searching for death registration post 2010

Hi

I am searching for a possible registration of death in about 2013 to 2015 in the York area.

The on-line records only seem to be available up to 2010

Can anyone advise if and how I can search for records in this period

Many thanks
John

Access to the GRO death index, online, only goes up to 2007.
To search for a more recent entry, you will need to look at the microfiche copies held at a small number of libraries:

https://www.gov.uk/research-family-history

If you are fairly certain of where the death would have taken place you can contact the relevant registration office for the area and ask them to do a search for you.

For a government website that one's a little bit misleading. Since 1984 the recording of births, marriages and deaths has been computerised so I believe there are no microfiche for recent events. You could try the York register office, but another source is newspapers. Try googling for York newspaper obituaries, or something like that, and quite a few possibilities come up. That may help you to narrow the search down, at least.

The website is correct.

BMDs are recorded on computer , but the index is still published by GRO, and is made available for examination on microfiche - I was looking at the recent death records in the British Library on their microfiche copies only a few weeks ago.

Apologies, I stand corrected. Possibly if John (the OP) isn't within easy reach of one of the libraries, a search of the online obituaries would be a good first step, nevertheless.
