Marriage License and Marriage Certificate

I just wanted to ask everyone a question concerning marriage certificates/license. I have found one of my ancestor's marriage license and certificate dating 1899 (I found it online). It gives so much information! It gives both parties father's names and mother's maiden names. It also gives the groom's birthplace and because the wife was born in Germany all it says is Germany. But I am wondering if all marriage license/certificates give this much information? I found another marriage of my ancestors dated back to 1873 in Minnesota. I can order the certificate but I am afraid that I will pay the money just to end up with the same information that I have now. And does anyone know where you can obtain a copy of the original license/certificate of any marriage like the one I found online?
