Surnames: Eckler
My wife's grandfather's name was Frank Eckler. Although he immigrated to the Boston, MA area around 1900 (1920 & 30 census) there is no record of him till 1913 when his first child was born. He was a witness to 4 individual's naturalization between 1915 and 1917 so we assume he was naturalized, and the 1920 Census say he was in 1905 but we can find no record. We have a photo of a fairly large wedding party, but no record of a marriage. So the possibility exist that he changed his name. If the name change occurred after naturalization and marriage, this fits. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding name change records during the first decade of the 1900's. Replies can be sent directly to Philshe670@Comcast.net.
Thanks.
